The GILPIN 2020 Festival

Picture
Gilpin 2020 Has been postponed for the time being. The most likely outcome will be that the whole festival will be moved to 2021 and become Gilpin 2020+1.

Throughout the year Ross-on-Wye and communities along the river to Chepstow will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Wye Tour through the  Gilpin 2020 Festival.

Rev. William Gilpin visited the Wye Valley in 1770, documenting his trip with what is generally recognised as England's first tourist guide. The publication of this book brought more and more visitors who dined at specific locations, took walks to particular viewpoints and visited romantic ruins, making the ‘Wye Tour’ one of the first ‘package’ holidays.

HRH The Prince of Wales officially launched The Gilpin 2020 Festival in November 2019.
